Victor Branitsky was born in Kiev, Ukraine, in a home where communism was taught and atheism accepted. As a young man Victor attended Kiev University majoring in English language and military interpreting. He was also a member of the young communist league and a first lieutenant in the Soviet Army Reserves.
In 1970 Victor met his future wife Lilliana, who was an American Evangelical Christian visiting the Ukraine as a tourist. They were married in Kiev. Victor was the first Ukrainian in 58 years to immigrate to the United States. Victor taught at the University of Minnesota and Carlton College.
In 1989 Victor returned to the former Soviet Union leading a group of Christian businessmen. He stated, "the first day I arrived back in the USSR I knew that God was calling me".
In 1996, Victor founded a nonprofit ministry he named Slavic Ministries. The focus of Slavic Ministries is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Ukraine and other countries of the former Soviet Union.
Victor travels to the Ukraine when ever possible, sharing evangelistic outreaches and seminars.
In the United States, Victor appears on the Global Message television program ministering to Slavic audiences in Minnesota. He is also doing audio recording for the Good News Radio program, broadcasting on the Ukraine State Radio and television. Victor is also very involved organizing local outreaches for the Russian speaking Jewish community in the Twin Cities here in Minnesota and also in Florida.
